The drapery rod would be totally hidden under the cornice board? Staple the draperies to a smaller wood box.

I ahte fake drapery panels and in your case you will never see the rod I use LED rope light often in that situation and also the drapes can actually function

Are you looking for a traverse drape rod? That is what i used under a couple of valances we have in our primary. We have non function drapes and then 2 remote controlled rollers under each valance.

My valance boxes are wood. I hung panels to hide the vertical blinds that came with the house which even though ugly and I HATE them, are super functional if we ever needed to close them--which is super rare. No room for their own rod so DH stapled the curtains to the back of the valance! Unconventional but ever so practical!
